Parklands United Sports Club is a club with a family focus based in the heart of Parklands.  The club offers a range of teams across all netball grades, including:

Future Ferns - 4 Yrs & Upwards (incl School Years 0 – 2), where players learn ball skills and have mini games. For those that are interested we can host this fully at the Queenspark School Courts once a week during the week or there is an option to sign up to the Future Ferns programme with Christchurch Netball.

An internal programme can be offered at no charge to give young players a chance to try the game, or the Future Ferns programme at $25 pp. Final option to be agreed once registration is complete.

Future Ferns - School Years 3 – 6, Christchurch Netball Centre run the Future Ferns Programme run across Thursday, Friday & Saturday competitions.

Year 3 & 4 play a modified 5v5 game whereas Years 5 & 6 play a modified 6v6 game. More information on the junior competition structure can be found on the Christchurch Netball Website:

Teams generally train and play a game once per week. Practises are held once a week at the Queenspark School courts.

Juniors - Under 12 (Yr7) - Under 17 Yrs, PUSC intends to register teams for all options where numbers permit from U12 to U17. All games are on Saturday mornings at the Hagley Park Courts.  Practises are held at the Queenspark School courts.

U12 teams move to 7 a-side competition where the teams change ends at each quarter.

Boys are able to play in teams up to Under 15 grade.

Seniors/U19 Yrs Senior netball is for adults and is more social than competitive, it is usually player-coached/managed.  Games are held every Saturday at the Hagley Park Courts. Competition grades will be confirmed once player numbers are known.

General Club Info:

Players wishing to play in our Under 12 to Senior teams may be required to trial. The details for trials will be posted and communicated to teams involved.

Age Grades:

When your child transitions from Future Ferns which aligns with school years to the Junior Competition (U12 upwards), to find out what grade your child should/could trial for, the significant date is 1st January, this is the cut-off date on the age group.

An example,

If your child is 12 at 31 December (last year), then your child should trial for U13 because they are turning 13 during the year.

If your child is turning 12 any time after 1 January (sometime during this year), then they should trial for U12 as they are turning 12 this year.

Teams will be formed after trials (if necessary) based on the recommendations of our club selectors who have many years of netball experience and put a lot of thought into team placements.

Netball Playing Tops are required - these can be purchased from the club. Often second hand tops are available in the community so keep an eye out for these and/or may be available on kit collection evenings (date TBC). Girls sizes $50.00, Adults sizes $55.00

The club provides playing skirts that are returned at the end of the season.

Optional extras to purchase include a PUSC Hooded Jersey - the teams do look great in these!

Uniforms will be available for collection/purchase from the Parklands United Sports Club club rooms, 75 Queenspark Drive (opposite Subway) in March/April.  I will let you know the dates for this when they have been confirmed.

A few notes from Christchurch Netball on uniforms...

We ask that players ensure their finger nails are clipped before they get to the court on a Saturday, they have their hair tied up so it is out of their face and no beads in their hair, NO EARRINGS - NOT EVEN TAPED, and they are wearing the correct uniform. Future Ferns, School Yrs 3 - 6 can wear black long sleeve tops and black full length leggings under their playing uniform. No other age groups.

Most teams train once a week at the Queenspark School courts.  Your coach will let you know the day and time for your team’s training.  We ask that players and their families support your coaches in any way you can, the coaches spend a lot of their own time preparing training, making sure all the players get their fair share of time on the court, learning drills and ways to make training more fun, and much more.

Please make sure your child attends practice even if it is cold, netball is a winter game and they will be playing in the cold so need to practise in the cold also. Make sure your child is at the game in time to warm up with the team at the time their coach has asked them to be there. If your child is unable to make a game or practice, give the coach as much notice as possible as this can change the whole practice the coach has planned if one person is missing.

Up to & including Yr6 - It is encouraged that a willing parent steps up to act as the umpire to allow the coach to focus on the game. Free training sessions and information are supplied by CNC, additional training course fees will be covered by Parklands United Sports Club as required.

U12 (Yr 7) upwards CNC provided whistlers/umpires may be provided should numbers allow - Parklands United supports any players, parents or siblings to register as part of the whistler / umpire training programmes offered by Christchurch Netball.

If available, there are a number of club umpires - weekly fees of ~$15-25 (dependent upon age group) are paid directly by the team on game day. On days a Christchurch Netball or Parklands United club umpire cannot make the game either the coach or a parent is expected to umpire the game.

Club Rooms

Our club rooms at 75 Queenspark Drive are open every Saturday night from 4.30pm. Netball focused nights are held every two weeks and we ask that all of our netball community attend.

Netball presentations will be at 5.15pm every two weeks - awards will be presented to two girls in each team each week: Player of the Day and Hardest Trier.

During the season each team has a night they are rostered on to run the kitchen and bar and the clubrooms from 4pm till 6pm.  The team rostered on for kitchen/bar duty needs at least 5 parents to help (players can help with clearing tables but are not allowed in the kitchen area unless they are over 18).  During the awards the rostered team will be introduced by their coach to the club, so keep an eye out for the night your team are on and make sure you are free from 4pm till 6pm to help and support the club.

Your coach will let you know what week your team is rostered on.

Volunteers Needed!

Parklands United Netball Club has grown over the years and as such the role of convenor has grown too large for a single person - anyone who has some spare time to support the role is asked to come forward. Volunteers are needed for club administration, team management & match day score compilation, social media administration and club night support - please if you have a spare hour or two each week/month please ask how you can help out - with a team of volunteers we can ensure the netball season goes as smoothly as possible and our players enjoy every second!

Enquiries and questions welcome - please contact me on the email below.

I am looking forward to seeing you all throughout the season.
