Parklands Cricket are pleased to offer junior indoor cricket in the winter months for Years 2 to 8 (age 6 to 13) in the Parklands Recreation Centre, 75 Queenspark Drive and the Pukeko Centre, 29 Chadbury Street.
Due to restricted numbers, the program is offered first to previous Parklands Cricket members and their families/friends and usually sells out, but please contact us if you have not played for Parklands before and are interested in joining.
While the halls and our facilities aren't the same as in a dedicated indoor sports centre, the kids still have heaps of fun and can continue developing their cricket and teamwork skills at the exceptional value of just $25 for 6 games compared with around $10 per game at dedicated centres.
Where?
School Years 5 to 8 (or confident Year 4) - Mondays @ Pukeko Centre Hall, 29 Chadbury Street - enter directly to the hall (not through the Bowls/Rugby clubrooms)
School Years 1 to 4 (or newer Year 5) - Tuesdays @ Parklands Recreation Centre, 75 Queenspark Drive - access from the car park (not through the clubrooms)
When?
Term 2 2025: 6 weeks from May 12 or 13 to June 23 or 24 with no game on Kings Birthday and the day after, June 2/3.
Term 3 2025 - Dates to be announced
Game times may differ each week depending on the draw and number of registrations, starting anytime from 4PM to 6PM and lasting 40-60 minutes.
Who?
School Years 2 to 8 - approx age 7 to 13, but contact us if you have a very confident 5 or 6 year old. This is not a highly coached environment and so previous cricket experience is suggested.
Programs may vary between a team based competition or a "pairs" based competition where everyone fields/bowls when not batting. Players will be of mixed age and we try to manage "match ups" so older children bowl to older children or are asked to slow bowling if bowling to younger/less confident children.
You can specify friends you would like your child to play with when registering and we will do our best to place them in the same group.
What to Wear/Bring?
A selection of plastic and wooden bats are supplied, but you are welcome to bring your own. There is no clothing requirement.
Format
Either pairs cricket in teams of 6 - everyone bats, bowls and fields equally. 4 overs per pair batting (guaranteed 12 balls per batter), 2 overs per bowler.
Or "pairs smash" in groups of 8 - similar but bat in pairs and all bowl/field when not batting.

When registering, you will first need to create a login for the New Zealand Cricket PlayHQ system, and can then continue to register your child.
