NEW for 2023-24, Parklands Cricket are excited to offer a Social Cricket tournament for adults of all abilities and genders on Thursday evenings at Parklands Reserve (and potentially Queenspark Reserve depending on the number of registrations).

The aim of this tournament is to provide a fun, social cricket option accessible to all.  If you've never played cricket, were intimidated by hard balls and helmets, don't like giving up an entire Saturday afternoon, or perhaps thought your cricket days were behind you or limited to the backyard or beach - this program is for you!

We supply and allow only yellow plastic balls and bats - pretty much the same as our junior Kiwi cricketers use but bigger - with no protective equipment necessary.  Socially considerate bowling is encouraged with limited length run-ups.  The game format is "Super 8s", designed to give each player an equal turn to bat, bowl and field.  16 overs per side, all bowled from the same end will speed up the game and keep it down to 90 minutes.

All teams will play from 6PM to 7:30PM, the time chosen to be late enough to allow those working in town to get home but early enough to also allow children to come down and be inspired by their parents and have a play on the playground or in the nets.

Just $10 for 5 games, registrations are taken individually but you can specify a team to be placed in (or others who you know to be grouped with) when registering.  Otherwise, we will place you in a team.

Registrations have now closed for our Feb 15 - Mar 14 2024 tournament.

E-mail with any questions.

Cancellations due to weather will be posted on our Facebook page:

Parklands Cricket fields mostly junior teams in competitions run by the Christchurch Junior Cricket Associaion (CJCA), however we do also support teams to play in social leagues run by Christchurch Metro Cricket.

We currently have the following teams:

  • Parklands Patriots - playing in Christchurch Metro Cavaliers Twenty20

If you are interested in starting a new team to play with Parklands, please contact
